What Happened in August 2022 @ Sunway Property

4th, 5th, 9th & 11th August 2022- 2H2022 Business Update Meeting @ Nationwide 

To encourage engagement, share our collective progress towards our 2022 goals and showcase what is up and coming for our business and employees, the second Business Update Meeting (BUM) was held virtually and physically on different dates across all four regions, our very first hybrid BUM where colleagues from all the regions could tune in to each regions' updates. 

The BUM in Central was fully virtual on Microsoft Teams on 11th August, while the Johor region held the BUM at Sunway Hotel Big Box on 9th August. Ipoh region had the BUM at The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat on 4th August and the Penang region organised the BUM locally at their office on 5th August. 

With cross regional employees tuning in, we had the opportunity to get business updates and people updates from the key functions, we also took the opportunity to recognize and celebrate our fellow colleagues who have grown together with us for the past decade. 

5th August 2022 – Media Night @ Sunway Hotel Big Box 

To express our heartfelt thanks to our media partners as well as the various Business Units in the Southern Region for their unwavering support throughout the years, Sunway Group along with Sunway Property, Sunway Hotels and Sunway Malls organised a fun-filled Media Night on the 5th of August at Sunway Hotel Big Box. 49 Media Partners were present, including Astro Awani, Media Prima, The Star and more. Guests received a special zero-waste door gift from Starkers, a local vendor that sells biodegradable and sustainable goods.  

Comedian “Bibi Kay Poh” was the emcee of the night. Highlights of the night included a Male and Female best-dressed competition, live band performances, and lucky draws. 

13th August 2022- Social Linkage Activity @ Escape, Paradigm Mall  

Sunway Property’s very first and much anticipated Social Linkage Activity after two years welcomed 30 participants for an Escape Challenge at Paradigm Mall. Sunway Property employees took part in thrilling obstacle courses such as scaling the gecko tower, swinging through the acrobat contraption, getting launched into the air by a slingshot, and bungee jumping off a 15m structure. Colleagues had the chance to bond outside the office walls in the spirit of togetherness.  

14th August 2022- Sunway XFarms Signature GYOF Workshop @ REXKL  

Sunday became more meaningful and eventful with the Sunway XFarms Signature GYOF Workshop held at REXKL, Chinatown on the 14th of August. The enriching workshop was part of REXKL’s Sustainable x Vegan Market Bazaar, along with dozens of booth vendors selling sustainable and vegan products. Aiming to teach the community at REXKL about the importance of local food security and empower them to learn and grow their own food in a sustainable way, Sunway XFarms COO Eleanor Choong guided participants to enjoy a hands-on experience with growing their own food, tasting fresh vegetables and touring the bazaar. 

15th, 24th & 26th August 2022- Award Gala Nights @ Hilton Hotel, Shangri-La Hotel & Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur 

Sunway Property is proud to be recognised by some of the most influential awards in Southeast Asia and Malaysia.  

Sunway Montana was recognised at The Edge Malaysia Best Managed and Sustainable Property Awards (TEBM SPA) 2022 on 15th August, achieving Bronze in the Below 10 Years: Multiple-Owned Strata Residential Category. This marked Sunway Property’s first TEBM SPA award in the residential category. 

Sunway Property was awarded with as many as 9 awards in various categories at the StarProperty Award Gala Dinner on 24th August and achieved ‘Excellence’ across all 9 awards. Moreover, this is also the 7th consecutive year that Sunway Property achieved the All-Stars Award (previously known as the Top 10 Developers Award).  

What’s more, Sunway Property has also been awarded the Top 10 Developers Award during the BCI Asia Awards held at Mandarin Oriental Hotel on the 26th of August. The prestigious award provides an overview of the regional building and construction industry by honouring the top architectural firms and developers that had the greatest impact on the built environment in Southeast Asia.

16th August 2022- 60,000 Meals Successfully Packed During Sunway Meal Pack-a-thon @ Sunway Pyramid   

The Sunway Meal Pack-a-thon with Rise Against Hunger Malaysia is back!  To reaffirm Sunway’s commitment to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 2: Zero Hunger, Sunway Group has once again collaborated with US-based hunger relief agency, Rise Against Hunger to organise the Sunway Meal Pack-a-thon series.   

The event was officiated by Sunway Group Founder and Chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Jeffrey Cheah AO at Sunway Pyramid on 16th August 2022. Close to 200 volunteers including VIPs from various business divisions including Sunway Property helped pack 60,000 nutritious meals comprising rice, lentils, dehydrated vegetables and a sachet of 23 essential vitamins for the underserved and undernourished communities.   

With the goal of packing a total of 270,000 meals, the 2022 pack-a-thons will continue in Sunway City Iskandar Puteri, Sunway Penang, Sunway City Ipoh and Sunway Velocity in the coming months.
